NODNA’s Crescent City Celebration of Nursing Excellence

The New Orleans District Nurses Association will be seeking submissions for outstanding registered nurse or advanced practice nurse nominees for the categories below.  Nominations will re-open in Spring, 2023.

 NODNA Direct Patient Care Nurse Award Nomination

Ideal nominee characteristics:
  1. Through application of nursing knowledge, this registered nurse assists patients in functioning at and maintaining optimum levels of health and activities, as persons, as members of families, and as members of their community.
  2. Active membership in a professional nurses organization
  3. Through direct nursing practice, provides innovations that help and encourage peers in their practice of nursing and acts as a role model to inspire peers to improve their quality of practice.
 
NODNA Excellence in Direct Patient Care Nursing  Award Categories 
  • Hospital In-Patient
  • Hospital Out-Patient
  • Ambulatory
  • Community Health
  • Long-Term Care
  • Other 

There will be one RN and one APRN award for each category.

NODNA Beyond the Bedside Nurse Awards Nomination

Ideal nominee characteristics:
  1. Through application of nursing knowledge, this registered nurse supports nurses and healthcare systems in maintaining commitment to meeting standards of care, regulatory requirements, patient care optimization, or quality outcomes.
  2. Active membership in a professional nurses organization
  3. Through nursing practice, contributes to innovations that support nurses and healthcare systems and acts as a role model to inspire peers to healthcare excellence.
 
NODNA Excellence in Beyond the Bedside Nursing  Award Categories
  • ​Healthcare Systems Nursing (Insurance, Infection Control, Informatics, Performance Improvement)
  • Nursing Professional Development (Facility based nursing education)
  • Academic School of Nursing Educator
  • Nursing Leadership for a Manager (Charge nurse, manager, or supervisor)
  • Nursing Leadership for a Nurse Executive (Associate Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer, or other Executive Level Nurse Leader)

NODNA Legacy Award Nomination

Ideal nominee characteristics:
  1.  Must have a consistent, outstanding record of leadership and have demonstrated formal or informal leadership that affected the health and/or social/political history of Louisiana (or greater reach) through sustained, contributions to professional organizations, nursing practice, education, administration, research, working conditions, or literature.
  2. Is a recognized and respected leader in nursing and health care having served as a catalyst for change.
  3. Must have been prepared in a formal registered nursing program unless the contribution was made before 1873 when no formal training was available.
  4. The impact of the contributions to the nursing profession may be domestic and/or global.
  5. The achievements must have enduring value to nursing beyond the nominee’s lifetime. (Note: Nominees for the Legacy Award may be living or deceased).
  6. The recipient should be recognized for promoting the advancement of nursing as described by the Institute of Medicine recommendations of promoting baccalaureate nursing education, promoting practice to the fullest scope of nursing role, promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration, and promotion of nurses on boards, promotion of diversity in nursing,
