Description of Current State: Nurses experience high rates of compassion fatigue as a consequence of their chosen profession and lack an educational or work environment in which to learn and develop specific coping strategies before needing them in clinical practice.
Description of Desired/Achievable State: Nurses will be able to effectively acknowledge their internal emotional states and use that knowledge to develop concrete strategies to process their emotions in a healthy way.
Learning Outcome (s): Nurses will report an improved capacity to identify emotional difficulties relating to their professional practice and a greater ability to develop strategies to effectively manage their emotional realities.
1.0 Contact Hours will be awarded for this activity for participants who sign in, attend the activity, and complete an evaluation. This event is specifically targeted to nurses to have an opportunity and safe space to discuss and share the techniques they use to cope with the stressors they experience in the workplace. The Louisiana State Nurses Association is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
